skiing & snowboarding on mt. washington

Mt. Washington is an alpine skiing ski resort located on Mount Washington on the eastern edge of the Vancouver Island Ranges in British Columbia, Canada. The nearest communities are those in the Comox Valley, a 3 - 3.5 hour drive North from the capital of Victoria, British Columbia.
The mountain allows for a wide variety of downhill terrain, ranging from beginner to expert. There are additionally facilities for snow tubing and one terrain park. Mount Washington also manages 55km of Nordic trails some of which are in nearby Strathcona Provincial Park.
With the world's deepest snow and sweeping views of the Coast Mountain range, Strait of Georgia and the Gulf Islands, going down the slopes of Mt. Washington is like no other.
Getting There
Bus transportation is the best and recommended way to get to Mt. Washington, and is offered between Victoria and Mt. Washington daily by several companies.
Air transportation: the closest airport to Mt. Washington is Comox Airport (YQQ), a 45-minute drive away, and international connections may be made via Vancouver International Airport. Delegates who still wish to travel to Victoria International Airport are recommended to take the various bus services that run frequently between Victoria and Mt. Washington.
Pre-Conference Skiing and Snowboarding
Ski and snowboarding packages are available for transmission: GLOBAL SUMMIT 2011 participants from February 6-8, 2011, prior to the conference. Packages would include lift tickets and accommodations at the Mount Washington Alpine Resort. For details, please contact Mt. Washington Reservations at reservations@mountwashington.ca. as early as possible in order to secure these packages. Limited packages available; reserve yours now!
Post-Conference Skiing and Snowboarding
Ski and snowboarding packages at Mount Washington Alpine Resort are no longer available for the weekend after transmission: GLOBAL SUMMIT (ie. February 12-13, 2011); however, participants who wish to ski and/or snowboard at Mt. Washington can find a variety of other accommodation options near the ski resort via Tourism Mt. Washington.

whale watching with Great Pacific Adventures

The spectacular and "Super Natural" Inner Harbour of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, is the home base of operations for Great Pacific Adventures Incorporated. Choose your whale watching adventure from a 45 ft ocean cruiser, which offers both inside and outside seating, OR in an exhilarating ridged-hulled zodiac. Either boat offers an exceptional whale watching experience. Each tour has a certified naturalist or biologist who gives educational commentary throughout the tour, on all members of our unique marine community. Each boat is outfitted with a hydrophone to hear the whales vocalize.
Daily departures commence from the Inner Harbour of downtown Victoria, BC.
