Calamalka is an artist that develops and progresses through the times, from his early years as a drummer in punk and hip hop hybrid bands to his current live p.a. sets that are a mix of heavy bass, minimal off kilter beats and future funk. Calamalka has released records and remixes with labels such as Plug Research, Metatronix, B.E.A.R. etc.. and continues to work with the Lighta! collective of which he is a original core member. Calamalka has performed recently with the likes of : Kode 9, Hudson Mohawke, Onra, Benga, Pole, RSD, Eskmo, Falty DL, Machine Drum, Slugabed, Illum Sphere, Blue Daisy, Synkro, Lunice etc.. and has played at note worthy festivals such as: CMJ NYC, All Tomorrows Party's and Red Bull Megahurtz.
